My Mama and her Recipes – a compilation of our Nyonya Grandma’s Recipes

PPBNKLS – Mama Recipe Template

PPBNKLS intends to produce a recipe book entitled “My Mama and her Recipes – A compilation of Nyonya “Grandma’s Recipes” as a component of the Association’s 10th Anniversary celebratory projects.

The Objectives of this project are:

1) To encourage members’ participation in conserving and sharing of old recipes;

2) To enable contributors to relate a story regarding the recipe and indirectly, the lifestyle of a Nyonya family;

3) To showcase the various influences that contributed towards making Nyonya cuisine a unique hybrid cuisine; and

4) To highlight PPBNKLS’ effort in promoting and conserving Nyonya traditional cuisine as part of its unique culture.

Each contributor will voluntarily, at no cost to PPBNKLS, provide the following to the Association:

a) A recipe (from your grandmother) using metric system measurements. Specify food serving portion.

b) Step-by-step preparation and cooking method in concise and simple English;

c) A photograph of your grandmother with her year of birth and death (if applicable);

d) A short story in about 250 words about the dish and your grandmother eg how she learnt to cook this dish and when it was usually served; and

e) If your dish is selected to be included for publication, you will have to prepare the dish on a date to be advised by the Association for food-photography. Present the dish on a suitable serving plate/bowl.

f) You can submit MORE THAN one (1) recipe

The book will contain up to 25 recipes.  We hope to have a mixture of appetizers, soups, plain and spicy dishes and desserts.  The Coordinator will monitor the content and may request for a change of recipe, if required, should a similar recipe be provided earlier by another contributor.

Copyright and Royalty:

The Association will be the owner of the copyright to all the recipes in the Recipe book. Each contributor will be required to sign a letter of consent for this purpose.  Please note the Association will credit the contributor of each recipe provided.
